Book description
This book is a collection of a number of poems written by Luvolwethu Mayo. The
goal of the author is to inspire people, express his ideas of society and to address
some of society’s problems.
His work has been inspired by society itself as all his poems are influenced by his
family, friends, teachers, acquaintances, the media and the environment.
Basically, those are his surroundings.
The way this poet views society may make you take off your shoes revealing the
critical messages the poet has injected within the poems. The book ends with a
poem revealing the authors location intentionally positioned as the last poem.
AUTHOR’S NOTE
My name is Luvolwethu Mayo, born on the 15 June 2007 in the house of 1308
N.U 10, Mdantsane Township, East London, South Africa. I am a 16-year-old boy,
currently doing Grade 10 at Sinikiwe High School. I live with my grandmother,
Ms Nomphelo Faku and my younger sister Azile Molo.
I started writing poems at the age of 13. I then started writing poems seriously
and at age of 15 to my current age now which is age 16. By now I have written
many poems but I’ve lost many of them. I only have a few left but I think these
few are the best poems I have ever written.
I love poetry. What attracts me to poetry is everything about poetry. To me
writing a poem is not just a hobby but an expression too. It is a feeling, a musical
arrangement of words and a tool which can be used to warn or educate society
about certain events.
Words are very powerful! As a poet, I specialise in the manipulation,
organization and expression of feelings through words by the beautiful sudoku
of symbols pasted on paper by a pen (words).
Poetry in fact is more than just writing poems, it is a role in society which had
existed even long ago as ancient African Kings were praised by poets. Poets are
the spices of events! They beautify and brighten our events making the whole
event tasty and entertaining!
I hope you will enjoy reading my poems. I thank you!
